When C arrived

Familial difficulties, broken trust, and a withdrawal from the world

C had struggled prior to joining Arnfield Tower, having experienced familial difficulties in her early years which had a significant impact on her ability to engage with education and health care services, and on her safety. There were concerns around substance misuse, offending, and a breakdown of relationships within the family. C had learned, understandably, to distrust the adults around her — and to keep the world at a distance.

Building safety

Learning that adults can be safe — and that she is worthy of care

Through the therapeutic support provided by Arnfield Tower, C started to see that adults and the world can be a safe and caring place — and that she is worthy of love and attention. This shift was not sudden. It came gradually, through warm and consistent relationships with the staff team, through predictable routines and boundaries, and through the experience of being seen and valued as an individual.

The team at Arnfield Tower understood that for C, trust had to be earned — and they were patient, persistent, and unwavering in their belief in her potential. That consistency made all the difference.

Education and achievement

Qualifications that reflect real growth, not just academic progress

C re-engaged with education through Arnfield Independent School, where she was able to access an individualised curriculum tailored to her needs. She achieved qualifications in ASDAN, outdoor education, Maths and English — a remarkable achievement given where she began.

Each qualification represented far more than academic attainment. It was evidence of C showing up, trying, and believing — perhaps for the first time — that she was capable of succeeding.

Health and wellbeing

Feeling heard, valued, and worthy of care

C was also able to re-engage with health services — not only improving her health outcomes but helping her feel as if her voice is valid and that she is worthy of medical care and support. For someone who had previously withdrawn from services entirely, this was a significant and meaningful step.

Family and transition

Reconnecting with those who love her — and returning home

C reconnected with safe family members and was able to transition successfully to her home area — a goal that had felt impossibly distant when she first arrived at Arnfield Tower. The relationships she rebuilt, with both her family and with herself, will carry her forward long after her time with us.
