A — from anxiety and isolation to college, independence, and belonging

Case Study

When A moved to Greenfield House from Moorfield Barn just over five months ago, though the transition was planned and completed with her wishes and feelings considered, she did show high levels of anxiety and found social situations difficult. Simple daily routines, such as joining others at mealtimes, felt overwhelming and often left her worried about being judged.

By taking time to understand A’s needs and adapting support around her, staff helped her gradually build confidence and feel safer within the home. She regularly attends education and her engagement has massively improved, resulting in completed exams and amazing results in her Functional Skills, achieving Level 2 in English and Level 1 in Maths. A has also proudly achieved her Gold ASDAN award alongside an ASDAN in Gardening and many outdoor education AQA qualifications. She has completed her first aid certificate and has applied to two colleges, receiving an offer from both.

A is now preparing to move into a semi-independent placement. Everyone involved in her care is incredibly proud of the resilience, courage and progress she has demonstrated in such a short period of time.
