CASE STUDY · MOORFIELD BARN
J came to live at Moorfield Barn aged 13 following involvement in criminal behaviour within his local community, difficulties managing anger and emotions, and a complete breakdown in education. He struggled to trust adults, engage with boundaries and build positive relationships with professionals.
Through consistent, trauma-informed care and strong relationship-building, J gradually began to feel safer, more understood and more able to engage with support. A key turning point was engaging in life story work with the clinical lead, which helped him better understand himself, his experiences and his behaviours. Over time, his confidence, emotional regulation and independence improved significantly. Football became a huge part of J’s progress, helping him build friendships and positive community connections.
Due to the significant progress he has made, J has now successfully moved into a step-down placement closer to his hometown and family network.
