We are a business, not a charity — and we are proud of it. For over 27 years, Arnfield Care has provided therapeutic residential care and on-site education for young people aged 11–17, operating from three Outstanding-rated homes in the beautiful High Peak area of Derbyshire.

Our story
1997
A working model is proven. A small team, eight beds at Arnfield Tower Activity Centre, and a desire to help young people in crisis. The core model is established: small, therapeutic homes providing stability, structure, and crisis intervention with on-site education and outdoor learning.
1999
Incorporated on 13 October 1999 as a private limited company in Glossop.
2002
A seven-bedroomed medium-to-long term home opens to complement the crisis support at Arnfield Tower.
The 2010s
Consistent Outstanding Ofsted outcomes throughout the decade, reflecting the organisation’s long-standing management and therapeutic approach.
2018
A vendor-initiated MBO, funded by Allied Irish Bank (GB), led by Paul Knowles, Elaine French, and Wayne Relf.
2021
A second crisis home opens in Glossop, bringing the team close to 100 people and making Arnfield Care one of the High Peak’s largest employers.
2025
Arnfield Tower and Greenfield House rated Outstanding on every measure. Arnfield Independent School and Moorfield Barn rated Good with elements of Outstanding. Over 27 years and hundreds of young people supported.

Our integrated model
Arnfield Tower, Greenfield House, and Moorfield Barn each have their own character and specialist focus, but all share the same trauma-informed, relationship-based approach.
All young people access our on-site school — delivering individualised classroom learning, ASDAN, and outdoor education tailored to individual needs.
Our Clinical Lead works alongside care teams, managers, and external professionals to embed therapeutic thinking into every aspect of daily life — not just formal sessions.
The team
Managing Director
Leads on strategic development and finances ensuring Arnfield Care operates ethically, sustainably, and in line with its mission.
Head of Care
Oversees the residential homes and independent school ensuring every child’s daily support, routines, and emotional needs are met to a high, consistent standard.
Responsible Individual
Oversees the referrals process and operational risks of running the children’s homes, ensuring our young people are safe and well cared for.
Placement Support Manager
Day-to-day contact between Local Authorities and the homes, ensuring young people are placed in the most appropriate setting.
Clinical Lead
Leads on the therapeutic care of young people, providing psychological assessments, 1:1 therapy, and clinical insight and training across the wider team.
Headteacher · Arnfield School
Leads Arnfield Care’s team of educators and directs the development of classroom, ASDAN and outdoor education provision.
Manager, Arnfield Tower
Overall responsibility for Arnfield Tower’s operation, ensuring each young person is supported through therapeutic care, healthy boundaries and critical interventions.
Manager, Greenfield House & DSL
Overall responsibility for Greenfield House and safeguarding lead across Arnfield Care, ensuring young people receive therapeutic care and critical interventions.
Manager, Moorfield Barn
Overall responsibility for Moorfield Barn’s operation, ensuring young people are supported through therapeutic care, consistent boundaries and timely interventions.
Business Engagement Lead
Leads on recruitment and onboarding of all staff, the marketing of Arnfield Care Ltd, business support and IT infrastructure.
